Biography
Nina Solomon is a multidisciplinary artist and designer from south east London. With her main medium being woven textiles, she also explores sculpture, digital collage and illustration. Her works carry a distinctive style, defined by a selective colour palette and playful flair. As an avid cyclist, her works are regularly inspired by themes of navigation, cartography, transportation and interaction. Her life and upbringing in London continues to remind her of the convenience and constant pace of the world today, as well as the privilege that comes with personal autonomy, or moving through space and place. Through a tactile and playful lens, she seeks to communicate the broad spectrum of moments and emotions experienced when navigating the modern world, whilst simultaneously celebrating the simple joy of existing and moving from A to B. Through combining simplified graphic composition and textural medium, she intends to depict the everyday transition or blur between digital and physical realities - a prevalent factor when considering how the majority of us experience the world today. The Artisan Ginge studio is currently located in South East London, where Nina creates her works on her 8 shaft Table loom.
